Broke was a cyborg, a human who had been enhanced with mechanical parts after a terrible accident. He had lost his legs, his arms, and most of his organs. He had been rebuilt with metal and wires, but he had also lost his emotions and memories. He had become a cold and efficient machine, working as a security guard for a corporation.

Claire was also a cyborg, but a different kind. She had been born as a cyborg, a product of genetic engineering and cybernetics. She had never known her parents or her origins. She had been raised in a laboratory, where she had been experimented on and trained as an assassin. She had never felt love or happiness, only pain and fear.
