The master Chief and his A.I. unit Cortana have easily one of the most interesting and well-written relationships in all of military sci-fi. With very subtle signs of romantic interest between the two, and neither truly pursuing each other until the later titles; until it's too late. Despite the many missed opportunities during the Reclaimer trilogy of games (Halos 4, 5, and Infinite) the dynamic persists in its intricacy by simply not letting the characters pursue each other. We get to see what one's thoughts of the other's demise does to them, but we never get to see them embrace each other. For many, (myself included) this only adds to the quality of the relationship. But for some, it leaves a sort of itch that is left unscratched. Hopefully, this helps scratch that itch.
