“If you'll excuse me, gentlemen,” said Fairbairn, “I need to get going. There will be time afterwards for you boys to get to know me.”
“Where's she going off to?” Wright asked.
“Fairbairn's got an outing with one of the village guards,” said Larkin. “They're going to the village tavern.”
“Oh, they've got a tavern? What's the local ale like?” Eule asked.
“Eule, hauld your weesht!” exclaimed McClendon. “We'll go tomorrow night.”
“I wouldn't know,” said Larkin. “I just peeked in during our recon. None of my team have been either.”
“So I'm going also to be giving a Google review for you lot? Fun!” said Fairbairn as she rolled her eyes. She headed for the door with Helena and the two women went to the monastery gate. A few minutes later Edward arrived. He wore a maroon tunic with a leather belt, blue leggings, brown leather slippers, a green cape and a maroon cap with a feather in it.

“Good evening, Miss Fairbairn," he said. He looked at her for a moment. To him she wore strange clothes, stranger than her uniform. But she was still beautiful.
“You look beautiful,” said Edward.
Fairbairn blushed. “Why thank you, Edward.” Edward extended his hand and Fairburn took it. The two walked from the monastery to the tavern.
“How are you, Miss Fairbairn?”
“Doing alright,” Fairbairn replied. “Just a busy day at the base. How are you?”
“Busy myself. Godric had us doing combat drills this afternoon.”
“Ah, combat drills! The best part of the day in my opinion. They build teamwork in character.”
“Oh yes,” replied Edward, with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
“You don't seem so thrilled."
I don't. I never was meant to be a soldier. From when I was little, I heard tales from bards and gleemen about the vanquishers, er…what do you call them?"
