“That’s an Ancient Long Range Communication Device. Stargate Command encountered them twenty years ago. They’re very tricky Sister. When used in conjunction with the communication stones they form a psychological link as well as a mental link with the users.”
“What do you mean?” Sister Helena asked.
“For example, if you and Maerwynn were linked with this device, if she was drowning in a river you'd feel the effects of her drowning. If she were to die, you’d die as well.”
Sister Helena shuddered. “Oh my!” She exclaimed.
“That’s not the worst part. There’s no “off” switch that we know of. The only way we’ve turned the device off is by disintegrating it.
“I see.”
“Did Maerwynn or her parents try to connect the stones to the device?” Larkin asked.
“Not to my knowledge,” Sister Helen replied. “They thought it was a GDO.”

Interesting SG ideas as always.
From a writing perspective, remember to keep each speaker's words in a dialogue in a separate paragraph.
This story continually amazes me, Matt. You've managed to deal with some touchy conventions brilliantly without overstepping the line. Well done!
“So that explains the strange activations of the Stargate,” said Larkin.
“Indeed,” said Sister Helena. She paused. “Simon, Mary, and Maerwynn consented to being scanned. I scanned them and both Mary and Simon do not have the ATA Gene. However, Maerwynn does have the gene.” Larkin let out a low whistle. “That is odd, he said. But she could have a recessive gene. Did you save all their medical scans?”
“Yes sir, just as you requested,” Sister Helen replied.
“Good. We’ll present it to Doctor Lam when we check in with the SGC,” Larkin said. “Hopefully, we’ll have some answers.”
“Understood, sir,” said Sister Helena.
