Little Jamie never believed his friends knew the Minions. How could they? They were just regular kids. They weren't related to Gru.
Then, on his birthday, he opened a card with instructions to go outside but keep his eyes closed. He looked at his mom who smiled then took his hand and led him to their door.
"Close your eyes," she said and he did so. He could hear the door opening then heard his friend, Lilly, giggle. "Come on," his mom said.
A bit confused, he let his mom gently pull him forward. After only a few steps, she lifted him up and sat him on something. He could hear slight movement and felt like he was being watched.
"Open your eyes, Jamie," his mom said.
Slowy, he did and, to his astonishment, the entire street was filled with those silly yellow Minions along with his 3 friends all smiling up at him.
"Happy Birthday, Jamie!" they said in unison.
His grin turned into a smile that was as big as the world. It was the best birthday he'd ever had.
