Amarula Trust established in 2008 with the aim of preserving African elephants.

There is only one place on earth where the fruit of the marula grows and that is in the sub-equatorial plains of Africa. Archaeological evidence for the existence of the marula fruit dates back to 10,000 BC, with traces of marula kernels found in the ancient Pomongwe Cave in Zimbabwe.

Only once a year, in the height of summer, the marula trees bear their sacred fruit. When the smell of ripe marula fills the air, elephants travel great distances to taste it. This tells us that it is time for us to start harvesting. Local communities are an integral part of the process and carefully pick the fruit by hand once the elephants have raised their trunks in approval.

Like elephants, marulas are protected by South African law. They are an essential part of the heritage. With fewer than 400,000 elephants left in the world and their numbers dwindling at an alarming rate, they are collaborating with organizations to help protect our elephants. * Amarula Cream Liqueurs 😍😋
