𐤒 qōp is the picture of a monkey sitting on a tree branch, in Phoenician with the tail hanging down. Other suggestions are a sewing needle or the back of the neck. It is an uvular plosive [q] spoken farther in the throat than the English k. It became Hebrew ק, Arabic ﻕ and Fidäl ቀ. Former Greek Ϙ is derived from it, as well as Brāhmī 𑀔 and Devanāgarī ख, the aspirated [kʰ]. The shape of Greek Φ with the sound value [f] might have used qōp as a template.
