**Margaret Macdonald** (Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh; 1864 – 1933) was a British artist and designer, closely associated with the Glasgow School and the Art Nouveau movement. Her work is characterised by its symbolic, ethereal quality, and the use of flowing, organic forms. Macdonald primarily worked with watercolours, gesso, and metalwork, often incorporating elements of Celtic mythology and folklore into her designs. Her technique involved intricate patterns and a harmonious blend of natural and fantastical elements, contributing significantly to the aesthetic of the Glasgow School. She formed the Glasgow Four within the Glasgow School together with her sister (Frances Macdonald), husband (Charles Rennie Mackintosh), and brother-in-law (James Herbert MacNair).
