"Let's Hear It for the Deaf Man" is the title of a novel by Ed McBain. Part of his "87th Precinct" series of police procedurals. I used the title as the entire prompt.
P.S. In case you care: In the books, "The Deaf Man" was a recurring villain who always wore a hearing aid in one ear. The police sometimes managed to foil his elaborately planned heists, but they never managed to capture him, so they never found out for sure whether he was hard of hearing, as he often claimed to be, or if he only wore the hearing aid as a prop whenever he was organizing another daring robbery. In theory, he might be doing that just to make all the accomplices and other witnesses think he needed it, so that the police would concentrate on searching for a fellow whose partial deafness was a matter of record.
