Actually there is a long-running philosophical debate about whether anything meaningfully exists if not observed.

Yeah of course there is and I think it exists whether we (humanocentric ones) see it or not! But no doubt it's much deeper than that. 

It's nuanced. There is the thought experiment of whether a tree falling in a forest makes a sound when no one is around to hear it. Initially I shrugged it off myself, but after bouncing around the idea in my head a few times, it made me pause and consider it more thoroughly.
