Kedemar merely turned his back on her while lacing up the front of his tunic. But he didn’t turn fast enough to hide the anguish on his face. Angry now, Natalya slid out of bed and stood glaring at her husband, fury and pain showing in every line of her taut body and clenched fists. “You’re a fool, Kedemar.” She hissed at his back. He turned abruptly, anger in his eyes. He stepped toward her, but she stood her ground. “No man likes to be called a fool, especially by his wife.” Kedemar said coldly. She gazed up at him, just as angry as he. “Well I can’t very well lie, can I?” She shot back. “So I’ll say it again. You’re a fool, Kedemar. A fool! A fool to think that I would ever care for any other man but you!” Angry tears spilled down her cheeks. “Do you really think my vows mean nothing to me? They mean everything!” She shouted. He was stunned for a moment, but then embraced her tightly. “I’m sorry.” He said. “I’m sorry. I am a fool, for doubting you. It just— it hurts, Nat.”
