In Greek mythology, the god Apollo killed the one-eyed giants known as the Cyclopes. According to Hesiod, the Cyclopes were the sons of Gaea and Uranus *snicker, and they forged Zeus' thunderbolts and Poseidon's trident. Later authors said the Cyclopes were Hephaestus' workmen, and Apollo killed them for making the thunderbolt that killed his son, Asclepius. In another Greek myth, the hero Odysseus outsmarted a Cyclops. Odysseus and his men got Polyphemus drunk, and while he was asleep, they stabbed his eye with a stick.
The moral of the story? Don't drink with Odysseus.
