Dietrich when he was alive was living in the mist of the war between The Wahree Seele and the western coalition. Having some sort of connection to Martine Middleton (possibly a distant relative) he was a key candidate for a potential role. Which is why Martine pulled a few strings and Dietrich lost his life to Matthew as a casualty of war.
Many years passed and Martine decided to revive Dietrich and branded him as Odon the harbinger of his final act. As odon he is heavily decomposed and filed by a basic carnal desire for revenge on Matthew. Making him a formidable undead warrior.
He was only able to be stopped by a joint effort from Breno and Kirk.
He represents Martine’s thirst for violence.
