Anton Pieck

Anton Pieck (Anton Franciscus Pieck; 1895 – 1987) was a renowned artist from the Netherlands. He was best known for his unique art style that often depicted nostalgic or fairytale-like characters. His works, which regularly appear on cards and calendars, are noted for their finely detailed use of colour and atmospheric perspective. They often present an idealised version of life in the 18th and 19th centuries in the Netherlands. Pieck’s art technique involved painting, illustration, and graphic art. His contribution to art is significant, particularly through his designs for the famous Dutch theme park the Efteling. This work has been of huge importance for the future of the park, as almost all later designers used his graphic characteristics in their designs.
