**1993: Farewell, Sammy! Part 1.** When Finni entered his room, he hung his key on the wall, but then he took it again and looked at it. On the keychain was a pendant in the form of a small figure. “I'll give it to you!” Finni suddenly heard a voice saying in the past. In his mind's eye, he saw Sammy's joyful grin. “I can't accept that, it's your pendant!” Finni had said at the time. He had always liked this little pendant on Sammy's key. Sammy had shaken his head at the time: „No, it's not my pendant. I bought a second one – for you! Now we both have the same pendant!“ Finni had been very happy about this gesture from his best friend back then. But that was a long time ago. Were he and Sammy still best friends at all? From the summer of 1991 to January 1993, they had met almost every day. But in the last few months, hardly at all.

**Part 3.** But since January 1993, Sammy had been visiting Finni less and less, and at school, too, they had suddenly been interacting less. To make matters worse, in February the class teacher had decided on a new seating arrangement and sat the two best friends apart because they talked too often in class. Daily meetings became weekly meetings, weekly meetings became occasional meetings, and in the last month, Sammy and Finni had only met once. Finni had to think about it when he looked at the pendant: the last meeting was like meeting a stranger. Sammy had received a “Super Nintento” game console for his birthday, which was still very new in Germany at the time. Sammy talked enthusiastically about it at school and at their meetings. However, the enthusiasm did not rub off on Finni: he did not have such a device and had no idea about the games. That alone wouldn't have been a problem: Sammy was an enthusiastic storyteller and Finni liked to listen to him.
