I am continuing my series on Heracles (known to the Romans as Hercules), the tragic Greek hero, with depicting him in the afterlife. After his tragic death, ingesting the deadliest of all poisons, the blood of the Hydra, he is consumed by a merciful lightning bolt from Zeus, and then brought by Athena in her chariot to Mount Olympus, to meet Zeus at last, his father, and he will be known as the greatest of Greek heroes in his afterlife.
