Great work. I think the closest JW came to genre was "Haunted Gold" where he fought evil forces in a ghost town, and "Thunder Riders of the West" about treasure hunters in an atomic bomb site. At the same time, JW lambasted Eastwood's "High Plains Drifter." 

As far as I know, John Wayne never appeared in any post-apocalyptic films. (Don't ask me why not.) I ran across a challenge calling for portraits of someone living in a post-apocalyptic setting, and my duty was clear.
