The idea for this little unicorn series was brought on by something as simple and small as being triggered by being reminded of type of bubble gum I used to get as a child. I can't exactly remember how or why but I think it must be tied up into something my abuser must have given me. I was often "bribed" to keep quiet, and I suspect this is why a simple picture of the gum in the daily challenge yesterday created such a negative cascade of memories and feelings in my body.
I have mixed emotions around unicorns themselves but for whatever reason this idea just really resonated with me and gave me a sense of comfort and control of the emotions that normally in the past would have completely overwhelmed me. I am lucky to have gotten out of the situation when I did as a child and even more lucky now to have had the chance to receive really in depth treatment, that has gotten me to the point I can at least sometimes work my way through the thoughts, emotions and experiences as they arise.
