Beautiful supercool art , thanks for following me
It was feared that a distant relative would have to be chosen, and the line of Queen Simone the Sensible would be broken. All across the Spadelands, tears fell and garments were rent—until the wise egg Shelley Dumpty spoke up. She pointed out to Scalchopine that the witch's curse (she did not say "blessing," or "prayer," or any of the things it was meant to be) had doomed any daughter who rose to the throne, but had said nothing about sons. The queen did have one son, a shy but very intelligent young man named Simeon. Seeing no alternative, she named him as her heir, and no sooner had the words left her mouth than she was dead.
Simeon had his doubters, and they were many, but in time, he grew bold, and proved to be a very wise king indeed. Though he had no consort, he had a council of many wise creatures, and his reign was a time of peace and plenty. His name is legend, even in the minds of those female cards who would rather see men "off doing the dirty work."
There is only one legendary king this can be. Simeon Spades, son of Queen Scalchopine, ruled for more than a hundred years and was an inspiration to male cards all across Wonderland, who normally did not get to do much of anything, other than march in straight lines. It all began with a diplomat from the Land of Oz; a Gillikin, who came to bring the Good Witch’s prayers to the dying queen. Alas, he worded the prayer a bit poorly: “that fair and noble Scalchopine shall rule forever and ever in the Great Beyond, and her daughter shall rule the Spadelands with grace and justice until her time comes to join her.” In the Spades’ minds, the Good Witch had doomed Scalchopine and her successor to having an afterlife, and suddenly all four of the queen's daughters begged to be disinherited at once.
