Love should not require proof

Childhood trauma and abuse can severely impact a person’s ability to trust and love others. When trust is broken early in life, particularly by those who should be the most reliable, it becomes difficult to form secure attachments later on. The fear of being hurt again can make it hard to let others in, even if they show love and care. This lack of trust can create emotional walls, causing the person to push others away or keep them at a distance. In relationships, they may struggle with vulnerability, constantly questioning the intentions of those around them, and fearing abandonment or betrayal. As a result, their capacity to love may feel stifled, as they may fear getting close or being truly seen.
