Historical note: telescopic rifle sights were used in the Great Anglo Boer War (second War of Independence) but were issued to only British forces and on an experimental basis. The Afrikaner boer (farmer) militia marksmen relied primarily on open iron sights, although a captured "khaki" rifle would have come in handy.
