Sam’s entire body stiffened as Tara yanked.
A sharp jolt ran through her. Tails were sensitive—not something to be grabbed like some kind of toy.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Sam growled, jerking forward, trying to get Tara’s grip off.
Tara laughed. “I just wanted to see if it’s real. What’s the big deal?” She yanked again.
Sam gritted her teeth. She didn’t like making a scene, but if Tara did that one more time—
Before she could react, someone else stood up.

His chair scraped against the floor as he shot to his feet. His dark eyes locked onto Tara, and for a moment, the room froze.
“Let go,” Brad said, his voice low and firm.
Tara scoffed, still holding onto Sam’s tail. “Oh, please, you think you can tell me what to do?” She crossed her arms, tilting her head with mock amusement. “Besides, why are you even here, Brad? Aren’t you supposed to be—oh, I don’t know—deported?”

Sam’s expression darkened. Chloe clenched her fists so hard her knuckles turned white. Even Sakura’s pencil hesitated on the page, her blue eyes flickering toward the scene.
Brad didn’t react right away. He simply stared at Tara, unblinking.
Then, slowly, he spoke.
“You talk a lot of trash for someone who couldn’t win a fight if their life depended on it.”
Tara’s smirk twitched.
Before she could respond, Chloe stood up, cracking her knuckles.
“Alright, that’s it,” Chloe said, her wolf tail shuffled as she stood up. “Tara, I swear to god, if you open your mouth one more time—”
Tara rolled her eyes, backing up just slightly. “Ugh. Fine. Whatever. This isn’t worth my time.”

She let go of Sam’s tail and strutted back to her seat, flipping her hair as if she hadn’t just insulted half the room.
Chloe muttered under her breath, “She’s gonna catch these hands after school.”
Sam rolled her shoulders, still irritated, but sighed. “Appreciate it, Brad.”
Brad simply nodded and sat back down.
As the class finally settled, Sam let out a deep breath, forcing herself to focus. But as she did, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye.
Sakura.She was still drawing in her sketchbook, but her gaze kept flickering toward Sam. Not in a nervous way, but in a curious one. Like she was studying her.
Sam raised an eyebrow.

The classroom was already filled with chatter by the time Sam, Chloe, and Brad stepped in. The usual first-period grogginess was in full effect—some students slouched in their seats, half-asleep, while others murmured about summer break and school gossip.
Sam took her usual seat near the window, stretching lazily as she rested her chin on her palm. Chloe plopped down beside her, spinning a pencil between her fingers. Across the room, Sakura sat near the back, already flipping open her sketchbook. But, of course, Tara had to ruin the morning.
She strutted toward Sam’s desk, her smug grin locked in place. “Hey, hoodie girl,” she said, tapping her manicured nails against Sam’s desk. “I just noticed something.”
Sam raised a lazy eyebrow. “What? That your personality’s still garbage?”
Tara ignored the jab and suddenly reached behind Sam—grabbing for her fox tail.
