Nightly over the 4 month flowering period of the betram palm drink its fermented nectar. It has the highest alcohol content (up to 4%) of any naturally occurring plant. They regularly drink the human equivalent of 12-15 glasses of wine each night yet show no signs of intoxication! It's been hypothesized that they metabolise alcohol by a different pathway than humans.
