Orbital Escape Pod

Scattered around the surface of the space station are 7 person escape pods... Once triggered, the escape pod can hold 7 people comfortably, and up to 14 in a pinch, however anyone not strapped in properly will suffer potential major injuries. Unlike rescue pods, which are designed to maintain their orbital velocities, orbital escape pods, are designed to be launched, and make planetfall on their own. Those used on space stations are typically outfitted with aero-cushion landing devices as well as redundant parachutes. Their onboard survival gear is packed according to planetary conditions, and typically includes at least 3 days of food and water, as well as medical and communications gear. It may also include weapons, armor, additional food, etc as the planetary situation dictates. Planets which are highly settled will typically only require the basic 3 day allotment, where as newer colonies, etc will often require additional supplies and equipment to assure adequate time for rescue.
