Ungoliant – Devourer of Light II

Ungoliant was a spirit of unlight — a vast, monstrous spider from before the world’s shaping, who allied with Morgoth only to outmatch even him in hunger. She drank the light of the Two Trees of Valinor, devouring it into blackness, and spun webs that cloaked the stars. Her size was terrifying, her presence suffocating. In the end, her greed was her undoing — she turned even on Morgoth and vanished into the far south, devouring herself in endless hunger. She was not evil — she was void.
