The Tale of the Empty Halls

When she first attended the feast

She went as her friend's companion pair

She heard the snickers and tales

The deceptions snaking through the air

She ensured her friend was safe

A watchful guard in the festive lair

Witnessing fights and chaos throughout

A Mediator too jaded to care

~

Wars broke out, weapons unleashed

None of them were spared

She counseled as best she could

As the enmity was declared

~

At long last the war was lost

As all but one remained

The mediator held her friend and wept

As the ashes and embers rained.

~

She still walks through the halls alone

Returning from time to time

Watching the tables decay

As thorns around it grow and climb

~

She listens to the echos in the darkness

And the wind's haunting sigh

She stays there in the memories

And in ageless goodbye.
