Back in the olden days people would often stand on their rooves. It was a different world up on the roof and you'd see many a sight if you knew where to look. This was the days before television you see, and so people, especially creative types made their own entertainment. There were all manner of secret roof codes to signal to certain types that one was into certain things. If you didn't know the code, it meant nothing to you. If you did, you did and then you could choose to do (or not do!) with your fellow roofer (male) or *roofee" (female). There were even very early incarnations of the parlor game Charades being played. It was a hive of activities ranging from recipe sharing to 'intimate activities!'
