Private Contractors and Corporations

•A significant portion of USAID’s budget goes to contracts with private companies that implement aid projects. If USAID were to shut down, private interests—especially in the defense, security, and infrastructure sectors—might step in to fill the void, potentially at a higher cost and with less oversight.

•Large multinational corporations, particularly those in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and construction, could benefit if U.S. foreign aid shifts towards direct trade or private-sector-led development rather than government-funded initiatives.

•Private military and security companies (e.g., those providing mercenary or security services) might see more demand for their services in regions where USAID previously contributed to stabilization through development projects.
