Manual! No electric. You had to keep notes and count of how far the lens thing was open and stuff. Must have been 4 things to adjust before taking a pic. A lever moved the film from the roll to the other side. Maybe 24 photos. The film had to be rewound back onto the roll before going into a dark room with a red light, where the camera was opened and film put into a black container for a series of chemical washes.
I cant even remember how we got the photos to paper. But it sure took great photos and didn’t go nutty when trying to get a photo of the moon or touchy about red. Double exposures were easy to do. Black and white too.
Oh! And the lenses! Some over a foot long, and my favorite the star lens. It had very thin wires in the glass in a grid pattern that added sparkle to the photos on chrome or other shiny things.
A detailed close-up of a classic 1966 Minolta SRT 101 camera and 35mm film roll, set alongside film development tools. The lens displays an iridescent effect in this digital matte painting.
