Karl Heinrich Ulrichs is manyfold a queer milestone. He not only gave the very first queer rights speech, but also invented the first positively connotated term or homosexuals (the latter didn't exist yet).
He failed. Shortly after his speech, Germany became a country and immediately introduced a vile anti-gay law that should last for 120 years. He had to move into exile to Italy.
Already many streets to his name, in 2013/16 he potentially became the first person who replaced another street name, specifically, because the former name honored an antigay bigot who gave such a speech in parliament (Berlin, 2 districts).
