The girl - Marguerite - is sitting by the window. We sense that she is very sad about something. Of course, she could be feeling sorry for the cuddly toy that accidentally fell into the hot water this morning and is now lying crumpled up on the radiator to dry. But no, she's looking up at the sky. Maggie is inwardly upset and deeply sad, and this feeling is transmitted to the viewer, who wonders: What has happened to this sweet child? How can I comfort her?

Such disturbing images also make me think of real situations where children are actually physically and emotionally injured, in Ukraine, in Israel, in Gaza and perhaps soon in Taiwan. These children are brutally deprived of a carefree life, a life where they can play and have fun with other children or their parents. And then I get angry when I think about the fact that there are so many warmongers in our country (Germany) - and so few peacemakers. Yes, I know, it's a very complex subject.
