Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 – 1928) was a British architect, designer, and artist, prominent in the Glasgow School and the Art Nouveau movement. Mackintosh's style is characterised by its innovative blend of simplicity and elegance, featuring geometric forms and organic motifs. He worked across various disciplines, including architecture, furniture design, and watercolour painting. His technique often involved meticulous attention to detail and harmonious integration of form and function, making him a seminal figure in early 20th-century design. He formed the Glasgow Four within the Glasgow School together with his wife (Margaret Macdonald), brother-in-law (James Herbert MacNair), and sister-in-law (Frances Macdonald).
