"It's not my car," she admitted reluctantly.

"You're lookin' for a driver but it's not your car."  He stuck a cig in his lips and offered the pack to her with one Lucky sticking out.

"Thanks but I don't smoke.  It's my brother's car. I borrowed it."

"Your brother...  He lives in Casabanca?"

"No, Jersey.  But yes, he's here at the Americano. Are you a good driver?"

"Whatta you mean good?" He flipped his Zippo open with one hand.

"Can you drive fast?"  She played with the broach on her blouse.

"Of course I can. " He flamed, dragged and coughed.  "What kinda question is that? This some kinda job? I ain't into breaking..."

"Not a job - a game." she assured him and knelt down and petted Bowser. "No more questions.  Just the hundred when we stop."

He loosened his tie and leaned in when she got up. "And all I do is drive?"

She offered her hand. "Just drive."

He shook it gently but she held on to him and asked softly,  "Do you have a gun..."
