"Where are we?" Zara's voice vibrated with frustration as they stumbled forward over the rubble. "Let my horse pull your cart, he said. The next village is nearly a day away, he said. It's been three days, Forgian! And we left my cart behind on day two!"
A sigh was his only response. He understood Zara's need to vent but raised a hand, signaling her to be quiet as an unexpected noise reached their ears. Zara stood at the canyon's entrance, facing a colossal mechanical structure with a molten lava glow, emanating an eerie hum.
Forgian's silhouette loomed directly in front of the structure. It seemed sentient, ready to defend itself. Her mind raced. With her alchemical knowledge, she concocted a mix to potentially deactivate the mechanisms.
"C’mon Forge, use that sword you carry!" As they prepared to attack, the glow intensified, casting a sinister light onto the adventurers.
