Lee Krasner

Lee Krasner (1908 – 1984) was an influential artist from the USA, known for her contributions to the Abstract Expressionism movement. Krasner’s art style is characterised by its dynamic compositions, bold colours, and gestural brushwork. She primarily used oil paints and collage techniques to create her expressive and powerful works. Her work is associated with the Abstract Expressionism movement, where she explored themes of identity, nature, and emotion through abstraction. Krasner’s innovative approach and resilience have made her a pivotal figure in the history of modern art, influencing later generations of artists. She was part of a group of artists that came to be known as the New York School of Abstract Expressionism, alongside artists such as Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock.
