Dragging oneself up by one's kneebootstraps

But should they? Would it disrupt the others? You know, the ones who talked too much.

They hid their anxiety exiting the elevator. The novelty of their first day en femme charged them to do new things. If the yackers were distracted by their clothing choice, there was email. They would tone it down for meeting days, if requested.

Surprisingly, management let them know down-low it was more than okay. The yackers didn't want to be near such audacity. More things got done.

Perhaps the novelty would wear off and they'd revert to more "sensible" office wear. But in the meantime, it made sense to wear a colorful new suit that made them think and try new things each day.

There were many they hadn't. They owed it to the compant.

Sure, it wasn't for everyone. Maybe no-one else here. But their managers' main problem had become "what if they find a workplace where they fit in even better?"
