A Ruby For My Heart #2

I was so lost in the thought that I didn't even notice I had slammed into a pole right in front of me till I felt the pain rush around through my head. Ouch. Well, my fault. I picked up my phone that had fallen on the paved, hard, and bumpy gray texture of the sidewalk; with the face of that girl facing up. I looked at my screen. She was my first real friend since I was little, and I had just gotten her number recently when I got my phone. Her name with the little text bubble was tempting me, until I just had to send a quick message. "Hi, it's Jake- how are you?" That was very awkward. I put my phone in my pocket and keep walking without waiting for a response. I'm not sure how long I'd walked. My feet were sore and my back ached. There were no signs of life in the city. No cars, no people. Just me and the girl in my mind.
