bēt

𐤁 bēt means house or building and stands for the voiced labial stop [b]. It is the picture of a house or a ground plan, probably derived from the Egyptian logograph for house. The letter became the Hebrew ב, Arabic ﺏ and Fidäl በ, the Greek equivalent is the letter B. Hebrew and Cyrillic differ between [v] and [b], which is ב and בּ in Hebrew and В and Б in Cyrillic. The Brāhmī letters 𑀩 and 𑀪 which evolved to Devanāgarī ब and भ are possible successors; they characterize the non-aspirated and aspirated forms.
