I love the historical vibe. The sepia-shades are perfect for a Daguerreotype. (And his unruly hair is wonderful! It really adds dimension to his personality.) I wrote historical novels for awhile, and I read somewhere that the long-exposure time of old cameras made it almost impossible for people to hold a smile (which is why the subjects always look like uptight blocks of wood.) It's too bad, really, because we all KNOW there was mischief and merriment lurking in those people -- even if it wasn't captured on film.
