Great work, Lupus! The series of pictures has turned out absolutely superb. Together with the captivating story, it creates a kind of masterful graphic novel. I don't know enough about German expressionism to be able to give a qualified opinion, but from my layman's point of view, it seems to me that you have successfully condensed the essence of this art movement in your series of pictures and story. Awesome!

Are there any intertextual references? I know that there is a novel by Jakob Wassermann from 1902 in which Vienna is the Moloch - but I don't know anything more about it.

That would be about that time. But I didn't have that one in mind, though. My primary reference is The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. I have used the back then tremendously famous silent film actor Conrad Veidt. His character name in the movie (Cesare) is an anagram for this short storie's protagonist Searce. I have included different additional movies into the prompt from all times, including Dark City, Interception and Matrix that play with morphing cities. But I haven't used all creation for continuity reasons mainly, as I failed to specify age and hair style. Thank you very much! This short story is based on the style of one my creations you like a while ago, the same actor standing on a perched roofslope
