200 years of silence. Since that fateful day when the warm glow had come, nobody had entered the library again. The books were sleeping, their slumber undisturbed for so, so long.
Just one day, they had heard footsteps in their dreams. Soft hands had grabbed something buried deep within the library, soft feet vanished shortly after. The books, still tired from sleeping so long, returned to their slumber, quickly forgetting this story without adding it to their canon.
The mantelpiece clock had stopped so long ago. Two hundred years and not a sound to be heard, aside from the occasional rustling of paper when a book was dreaming.
And then, the stone began to groan silently.
