Delicate and elegant! Maybe it's just my cultural background, but the combination of red and green, particularly together with the black robe with floral pattern, gives lots of Eastern European vibes. The red gloves are simply fabulous, esp. when holding up the skirt like she does.

You're absolutely right. Diana Vreeland strongly influenced fashion designers in the mid-70s. Passionate about Russia and Eastern countries, she therefore, through an exhibition in New York, introduced all these cultures to Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent or even Jules -François Crahay for the Lanvin house.

Wow! Never knew that - I confess I know nothing about fashion and its history even though I have an eye for style. To me, those design elements are simply a reference to my childhood era when the Soviet influence was a whole lot heavier than what was desired or considered adequate. And that's not to say you couldn't make beautiful designs with those!
