As the fell beast rose up behind Aatush, claws and teeth flashing, tendrils beginning to wrap around her throat, Guniya raised her scepter and shouted, "From darkness into darkness, by Mahtma's will!"
Striking the monster a blow on its flank, it burst into blue flames, which quickly spread.
Its screams of anguish were deafening, all were dumbstruck and covered their ears.
The beast leapt and flailed and fell off the precipice, blue firelight creating shadows on the descent. Dawn was breaking over the horizon.
Aatush helped Hyresu to stand and they embraced. Guniya raised her chin and strode into the dark catacombs, a blue nimbus surrounding her scepter.
The others followed her in two ranks. Drips of water were the only sounds as the corridors of tombs and strange ancient glyphs began to populate the stony chambers.
