One afternoon, she was working on a new charcoal piece in the studio, her sleeves pushed back slightly as she sketched the delicate folds of fabric on the figure she was drawing. Anna sat nearby, flipping through her own sketchbook.

"So, I saw the comments on your last post," Anna said casually. "You’ve got some real fans. And some… not-so-happy followers."

Lena smirked behind her mask. "Let me guess. The usual mix of ‘inspiring’ and ‘why are you doing this?’" ...

... "More or less. One guy said, ‘You’re ruining your beauty.’" Anna rolled her eyes. "As if that was ever the point."

Lena exhaled, focusing on the delicate shading of her drawing. "It’s funny. They don’t realize that comments like that prove why I needed to do this in the first place. If my worth is tied to how I look, then taking that away is the ultimate act of defiance."

Anna grinned. "Damn right." ...

... Anna grinned. "Damn right."

Across the room, Max—another art student—was listening. After a moment, he set down his brush and turned toward them.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" he said, his voice careful.

Lena looked up. "Sure."

He hesitated. "I get that this is personal, and I respect your choice. But… don’t you miss it?"

"Miss what?"

"Being… seen. Expressing yourself that way."

Lena leaned back in her chair, considering his words. "I am expressing myself. Just not in the way you expect." ...

... Lena’s days moved forward in a strange, delicate balance—some things unchanged, others shifting in ways she could not have predicted. She continued her studies, attended lectures, spent hours in the studio, and poured her thoughts into her blog. But the world around her reacted differently now.

Some people treated her just the same. Others… didn’t. ...
