The Octostag has evolved to become one of the most disturbing and efficient predators. Whilst it lurks in the deepest recesses of forests and lakes, this does not prevent it capturing its prey from far further afield, with spider like brilliance.
The Octostag has developed the unique ability to dispatch hovering ringed tentacles which seek out its prey, mesmerise them, and lure them back to the Octostag over any distance. The potential prey, whether via hunger or curiosity, stumbles upon the floating tentacles and are naturally drawn towards them, and cannot break their gaze.
They are then led towards their inevitable fate, without the Octostag ever having to leave the safety of the deepest recesses of the forest. For this reason, the Octostag is rarely seen, at least not by anyone who survives them.
