It is followed several moments later by a shouted alarm from the nearest sentry along the rim of the henge.  A large group of riders is approaching, fast.
With their leader still below, they know they have to hold them off until they are out, but they are badly outnumbered.  Still, alerted by the mysterious fire arrow, they have time to prepare.
