In a dusty wooden apple box filled with old jam jars and rusty lids in their grandparents loft. The 12 newly discovered songs sound just like Elvis' 1954/55 Sun Records recorded by the legendary Sam Phillips in Memphis,Tennessee. The reel tape box listed the titles of the 12 songs, plus the songs running times. The tape sounded so crisp and clear as if it had just been recorded. It was just Elvis, on his own, with an acoustic guitar. Elvis was wild, really letting it all out and you could almost feel the incredible vibes that must've been burning at Sun Studios that day. They self-financed a 12 track vinyl lp with an initial run of just 1000 discs. They were concerned about copyright issues of course but they didn't know who to contact to check what's what...they were both just ordinary office workers...
This image captures two young men in a nostalgic 1956 setting, surrounded by the warmth of vinyl records and the spirit of rock and roll's early days, as they revel in the discovery of a rare Elvis Presley Sun Records demotape.
