The Fire Spirit

Lia was going back when she witnessed Paul's perilous situation. A group of rogue magicians surrounded him, hurling blazing fireballs. Paul, his shield raised in defense, was no match for their combined power.

Worried about his safety, Lia drew a matchstick. She smeared her saliva and cited an incantation. The matchstick, imbued with her power, ignited, its flame transforming into a creature of pure fire. Then Lia coughed blood.

The fire spirit, a creature of myth and legend, soared into the sky. With a roar, it attacked the rogue magicians, their spells and attacks powerless against its fiery wrath. Bright light and extreme temprature descended upon them. The sorcerers, consumed by the flames, were reduced to ash.

Paul, stunned by the sudden turn of events, glanced at the source. He saw Lia, weakened by the exertion of the spell, collapsed to the ground. A trickle of blood staining her lips. As he cradled her in his arms, a wave of concern washed over him, what had just happened?
