Goddess Lama / Lamma

Sumer, Akkadian and Assyrian mythology, a mediating goddess who precedes the orans and presents them to the deities, also a protective deity of the temples. From Assyrian times, Lamma depiction becomes a hybrid deity, half-animal half-human, usually a lion, bird or bull but alwys with a human head, this protective deity was more usually named as Lamassu, its bull or lion body represented strenght, bird wings represented freedom and human head symbolizing intelligence, small figures and bigger statues of Lamassu were used on palaces, temples, city and houses all across Mesopotamia as a symbol of protection.
