I find this expressed very powerfully in your picture: holiness can also be expressed in a kitschy way in some styles. Not so in the Gothic style, where it is so powerful that it can also have an eerie, frightening, depressing effect. For me, your picture expresses this excellently: of course because of the Gothic architecture, but above all in the choice of colors. A gothic church with bright colors can also appear kitschy. Yours is very dark, but contrasts with the warm cozy candles and the unearthly lights that shine eternally through the church windows. According to my modest education, this is exactly how European Gothic should have a powerful impact (I don't know about the American version, unfortunately). Your picture expresses this perfectly! I don't know the other pictures of the DC, but at least the top 10% is absolutely deserved.

I loved how the AI interpreted my prompt for these colors and contrasts as well, and I agree, there is a certain beauty in the Gothic style; although I had originally only created this because of the Daily Challenge, I was fascinated by this result (you won't find many more Gothic-style things in my creations, unfortunately, though). The Gothic style's great atmosphere and often unearthly feel really spoke to me, and I love considering its nuances and how I can possibly implement it in my art, although I rarely do.
